In Memory of my Mother

medium_mumanddad.jpg

Dear Shelley & Everyone,

Today is a sad day for me, it is the second anniversary of my mother's passing. Her name was Dorothy, but she didn't like to be called that, so she was always Dolly to everyone who knew her. I miss her and love her with all my heart and still can not believe that she has gone. She was an intelligent and remarkable lady. She could sing beautifully, knit anything, and was a gifted artist. She was loved by everyone who knew her. This photo was taken at my wedding and I have it in a lovely silver frame on my Grandmother's table.

Today I went out and bought beautiful pink roses, carnations and baby's breath. I put them in a crystal vase and they are standing next to this photograph. I love you Mum and again, here is the poem I read at your funeral service:

The Rose Beyond the Wall

A rose once grew where all could see,
Sheltered beside a garden wall,
And, as the days passed swiftly by,
It spread its branches straight and tall...

One day, a beam of light shone through
A crevice that had opened wide---
The rose bent gently toward its warmth
then passed beyond to the other side...
Now we who deeply feel its loss,
Are comforted----the rose blooms threre...
Its beauty even greater now,
Nurtured by God's own loving care.

In memory of you and Dad I made our family tree. It gave me a lot of solace during many a sad time. It also brought me closer to who you were and all of those who came before us.

I will love you both always....
God Bless,
Susan

Susan...
Your tribute to your parents is very special and the obvious love that you have in your heart shines through. I lit a candle today in honour of your Mum. By the way, I lost my own Mama in February as well. It would seem that we share that too. Love, Shelley
